THROUGH INTERNET WEBSITES, YOU CAN HAVE LINKAGE TO YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS YOU HAD LOST.

THROUGH INTERNET WEBSITES, YOU CAN HAVE A LINK TO YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS YOU HAD LOST.
.

TODAY is the last day of our training and we have gained something new, which is how internet can be used as a contact linkage between the two sides which had lost contact for so long.

The lesson was taught by a new facilitator, Maggid Mjengwa who is the owner of one of the websites in the country called ‘Mjengwa’ who encouraged us to use internet websites as a tool for linking two or more people who lost their contacts with their relatives.

He said through his website there are a lot of people had not only benefited from it but also gain knowledge since through it you can get a lot of knowledge delivered by the members.

“In my region, Iringa there so many people who find their relatives through my website example a certain lady who had lost contacts with her relatives for so many years was able to contact them through the internet”….. he said.

However he said there are some websites which organize illegally and if someone finds out he/she is supposed to report to the police so that legal actions will be taken.

He said for those who willingly agree to publish their photos showing their naked bodies, it is important to be punishes as it affects the lives of the future generation, the children who are children under eighteen.

Another topics includes that copping news (plagiarism.)and it is much
, practiced by some journalists. From word by word which is said is a completely kind of theft.

“In Finland, this type of writing is a completely theft because you cannot copy all sentences from the internet which has been published by another person it is just like grabbing someone’s property.”…he said.

However he said if a professional journalist copies some parts of someone’s story from the internet it is a must for him/her to mention the writer as its his property.

KILIMANJARO, AN EXEPTIONAL PICK IN WORLD WHICH NEEDS TO BE PRESERVED!

KILIMANJARO, AN EXEPTIONAL PICK IN WORLD WHICH NEEDS TO BE PRESERVED!

AS far as I have learnt through different sources, I discovered that Mount Kilimanjaro climatic changes which are nowadays not as stable as it was in the past year due to environmental pollution.

According to Kilimanjaro Environmental conservation Management Trust Fund, (KECMTF) among the major activities practised by people living around the mountain pick if agriculture whereby most of them use inorganic fertilizers which leads to unfertile land.

The source also discovered that due to much of chemical fertilizers, the lad becomes arid and a result the melting of the ice at the Kilimanjaro pick. This is very dangerous to the Tanzania economic development because many people from foreign countries tend to travel the whole way long to Tanzania so as to witness the wonders of the world.

Environmental pollution in agriculture is mainly due to the use of agrochemicals and inorganic fertilizers. The pollution arises out of improper handling and overuse of agrochemicals, use of banned chemicals, chemical control of migratory pests, etc. The water hyacinth (Eichlora Crasipes) invasion in Lake Jipe is becoming a threat in the Kifaru River course and is a serious environmental problem.

Uncontrolled tree felling for firewood and construction, encroachment on arable agricultural land on the steep slopes of the foothills of the Mountain and the Upare Ranges, pollution of water supply sources and destruction of the water catchments systems have deprived many inhabitants in the region of the benefit of the continued supply of clean and safe water.
Seven major categories of environmental problems in the Kilimanjaro Region have been identified. These problems include :
• Land degratation
• Inadequate water suply
• Pollution
• Habitat fragmentation and loss of biodiversity
• Deterioration of aquatic systems
• Deforestation
• Frequent forest fires.
The problems impact negatively on the economy and well being of the people of Kilimanjaro and the nation at large.

The process of land degradation varies and may not be easily detected or measured. Its severity can be gauged from the red-brown color of streams and in floods as the vital top-soil is washed away from upland areas due to bad cultivation habits - such as cultivating on slopes of a gradient of more than 50% without terraces. In other areas, silting of dams and reservoirs and the bareness of the top soil in many fields are a manifestation of land degradation. The productivity of soil has been considerably reduced in many parts of the highland and middle ecological zones of the Kilimanjaro Region. In lowland areas, overgrazing contributes to land degradation.

INTERENET, THE EASIEST WAY FOR A JOURNALIST TO GET INFORMATION FROM A SOURCE

TODAY we have another good topic on internet training workshop as we have been
taught on how to do our assignment through e-mail.

If I am not wrong, the facilitator taught us to look for our news sources through internet and he said to make things easier, first we as journalists who are usually have deadlines in our media houses for deliver stories, should not first run into internet but use a phone to contact the head office of the sources.

And we tried to enter the Zain cellophane company whereby we found a phone number and e mail address and there we were able to have access to some information more easily.

And also we had practical assignment whereby we were told to look for the contacts of Kagera after having a tip from Karagwe that there is a big out break of malaria in Karagwe.

So to get more information first we searched for Kagera region website and through that website we were able to get some information and contacts of the head offices.

I really enjoyed the assignments because I never came across with such assignments since in our media house we mostly use the methods of going to the source or use a phone to contact the sources but not very much through E- mail so I think through this training I can do my job very simply by using this method.

AT LEAST NOW I KNOW A LITTLE ON BLOGGER

AT LEAST NOW I KNOW A LITTLE ON BLOGGER

ACTUALLY yesterday was amazing day for me since I had a really new topic on internet as we were taught on how to sign in different websites and I had opportunity to sign in international websites like a blogger.com website.

The processes were a bit of confusion but also of excitement but at last we managed to sign in and my new blogger e-mail is harriethkiwale.blogspot.com.

In general yesterday was a fantastic day although it took me a little bit time to understand fully how to operate the blogger mail.

However we were also able to open different media websites of Tanzanian like New habari, Majira, Daily news and habari leo, clouds fm, and ippmedia and so many other Tanzanian websites.

We also had access to all Africa website which includes different information from different African countries.

The only thing I have learnt yesterday is that the more the training continues, the more I become more interested in having access to internet knowledge because I find out that I need more than I have.

And the more I learn the more I will be able to find information occurring in the world and I would like to encourage all journalists in Tanzania to make sure that they have this knowledge because it really simplifies our job.

INTERNET; A SHORTCUT WAY FOR COMMUNICATION IN THE WORLD

FOR journalists to be knowledgeable or have access to today’s worlds’ activities going on in the world internet is the only easiest way to use.

I was exited to be among the participants in this workshop because I knew that through this I would be able to gain more knowledge on how to use internet in order to simplify my duties as journalist as internet or computer literacy keeps changing everyday that is why we as journalists needs to learn more often so that we can coop with the technological techniques.

On the first day of this workshop we learnt on what internet is, how the internet has changed the societies and communication in different parts of the world and also how to open or enter different international websites like www.ecommerce.com , www.wikipedia,org www.youtube.com , www.amazon.com and so many others.

However, we also came across with other topics like e- mail communication skills whereby we have been taught on how journalists can benefit from using e mail by having connection with different people far away.

Example when a journalist needs to attend a training workshop in a certain country he/she can book a ticket through internet.

However I have also learnt that not only journalists benefit a lot from internet service but also even other people like businessmen or even ordinary people.

Example when a businessman wants to advertise his/her goods he can do it through internet or when someone wants to buy something in foreign countries can also fulfil her/his needs through internet.

I think internet is ‘a really friend in need’ everyone in this world as it helps to solve so many problems as it acts as a bridge or linkage to all parts of this very big world.

And for a developing country like Tanzania there is a need establishing special strategies which will help to enforce the computer lessons to be taught in schools so that all people in the country can have access to the knowledge for the sake of our nations’ economic and social development.
